People say once you reach 40 birthdays aren’t that special but honestly, my 41st birthday was one of my best ones yet! We started out with a loose plan that quickly changed in to something completely different. It worked out to be even better than expected! Like Sarah said, “we’re so lucky.” And finding ourselves in Portland Maine on my 41st birthday, exploring Back Cove and Deering Oaks Park was, indeed, completely lucky!
We started out in Andover for a lobster feed that was delicious. We gathered with family and had our fill. Is there such a thing as being full from lobster? LOL, it was the first time Sarah ever cleaned her own lobster. I’m hoping it’s not her last…
We got done dinner pretty early so we decided to hit the road and pay our good friend Betty a visit. We wanted to close the gap between us and Portland for the following day and Betty had some booties to give us. If you want to get your hands on a pair (AMAZING COMFORT!!), head on over to our Facebook page and tell us you heard about us because of Betty’s Booties and we’ll hook you up while supplies last for FREE. Yup, FREE! We love to share! They are remarkable because the woman who makes these booties for Betty is blind. She makes them, Betty gives them to us, and the lady makes more and more and more. Needless to say, we have a pretty big supply. 😉
After we left Betty, I went to my handy dandy travel apps to score a hotel a little bit from Portland. It was perfect! We stayed in a really nice 4 star hotel for the fraction of the price and we slept like babies.
The Portland area is beautiful in September. As I write this it’s October and I bet the fall foliage is magnificent! Just think of the fall leaf roses we could make!
Below are the highlights of our trip to Portland:
All in all, my birthday weekend was one of my best. As many times as I’ve been to Portland, we experienced something completely different than the last time. And it all just unraveled before us, showing us wonderful opportunities.
Do you think it’s because of luck or because we were open to the wandering? Are you a wanderer or a planner when you travel?
