Day 10 of our trip to Prince Edward Island has no pictures to share of the actual trip. From Saint John we took a direct route home. We did stop off in Waterville, Maine for a sandwich and discovered a little walking park. Other than that, we drove home the remaining five hours, discussing our trip and picking our favorite thing about each day. This is what we picked:
Day 1: Of course we both really enjoyed seeing Stephen King’s house in Bangor, Maine. His novels, movies, and overall presence is eerie and so is his house!
Day 2: Without a doubt it is Shediac, NB and the Fisherman’s Wharf there! What a great spot for a picnic, affordable parking, and some local hanging out!
Day 3: Tignish, Prince Edward Island. The town is picture perfect and on a Sunday, it’s ghostsville! We had the place to ourselves and were able to visit the beautiful St. Simon & St. Jude church… not to mention the romantic stroll we took that day.
Day 4: Victoria Row in Charlottetown, PEI. This is the busiest city we went to on Prince Edward Island and Victoria Row is where the action happens. Shops, music, bars are all along this closed off from traffic street. And at the entrance there are some fun things to see and do like the “Before I Die…” chalkboard everyone writes on and the statue sitting on the bench.
Day 5: The Bottle House in Cap-Egmont, Prince Edward Island. What a vision this man had and recycled 25,000 bottles by building a house from them!
Day 6: West Point Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island. We’d never been to the top of a lighthouse before! Enough said…
Day 7: Alberton, Prince Edward Island. Finally, we visited Alberton! Quaint little town with an awesome pub, The Albert Crown & Pub Eatery. Yum and fun!
Day 8: Fonzie’s Pizza! Pizza, pizza, pizza “aayyyy!”
Day 9: Animal Land in Sussex, New Brunswick. Yup, it even beat out Saint John, New Brunswick for both of us. It was such an unexpected find special to just us.
Overall, this was an amazing trip for both of us. We had never been on a 10 day trip with one another that involved so much togetherness and driving. It was perfect! I think the trick to traveling with someone in that situation, is patience, humor and lots of love… all three things we both possess!
